With his 20% share from the parish gross income, the late Iloilo priest apparently had a very good arrangement with his bishop.
The deal becomes even more substantial, especially when viewed in the context of a 2013 story from the Union of Catholic Asian News reporting about the hard-up priests of Leyte finally each getting anywhere from the equivalent of $113 (about P6,300 now) to $226 (about P12,618 now) a month in "living allowance".
